I have learned so much from your programs. The on-line product worked out perfectly for me. I could study and complete the program at my own pace. The support team was great answering my questions. The material is well written and the information in the manuals is invaluable for a trainer.

It's been a pleasure to work with ISSA, from my initial telephone conversation, need for extension, to the final exam. The workbook and manual were very helpful and the exam challenging. I was able to log on and off when necessary. The information was insightful and I'll use it as a reference as a Senior Specialist. I also want to thank Cameron Baker. His letter was more than a congratulations. HIs acumen and appreciation of the work involved was much appreciated . Thank you! Thom Ciulla

There's no substitute for science. We can learn a lot about fitness and nutrition rather haphazardly - hanging around the gym, learning from others, reading magazines and blogs, but there's a need for formal education if you want to professionally help others. ISSA courses keep you from becoming a one-dimensional "my way" trainer - a person who might know the gym, but doesn't know beans about the human body, working with different sexes, all ages, or disabilities. ISSA courses are very thorough and well-designed. To successfully pass your exams, you have to possess the general knowledge plus you have to become resourceful in research. In my opinion, the Senior Fitness certification course was as difficult as my initial Certified Fitness Trainer course. Both courses required disciplined study and the final exams are tough. These days, ANYBODY can pay for a worthless certificate online. But, when it comes down to actually training someone, people who pay for these "certifications" are as worthless as the paper it's printed on. The general public may not know the difference in an ISSA certification and a mail order one, but gym owners and other trainers do.

My first certification with ISSA was in 2000, my second in 2002. Both certs. expired in 2012 when another assignment required my attention. When I decided to rejoin ISSA it was just as easy as with my first certs.

ISSA seems no nonsense to me as a trainer. A lot of programs either pad their program to give the impression that more time invested equates to a better certification, while others lack science. ISSA is just right.

The business resources provided as part of the course material really help to set up your own personal training business with form templates and tips to help you hit the ground running and succeed!
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to complete my Personal Trainer Certification with ISSA. The modules were well-organized and the course material was reinforced by videos, case studies and an in-depth learning summary with terms at the end of each chapter. The exams are designed to test not only theoretical knowledge but your hands-on knowledge and common sense as well. In other words, learners need to try the exercises and movements to understand their mechanisms.
The emphasis on training principles and the case studies are designed in such a way that the learner can become technically knowledgeable and apply that knowledge properly. The business resources provided as part of the course material really help to set up your own personal training business with form templates and tips to help you hit the ground running and succeed! It truly makes a difference that the founders, advisers, course authors and continuing education authors are all experts in their fields. I have recommended the course to others and will definitely continue doing so. I look forward to my continued learning with ISSA. With ISSA certifications, you can walk the walk and talk the talk!
