I highly suggest the associates program to anyone trying to get ahead in the fitness industry, or just trying to help those around them.
As a military member, I have been deployed twice and lived overseas the entire time I have been with ISSA. At every turn they have been patient with me and understood that the life of a military members is not always timeline friendly. I have taken many of my classes through them, and my overall impression is that they are a college that values follow through, consistency and professionalism. I have learned more about how to better myself and my fellow military members than I ever thought possible.
I highly suggest the associates program to anyone trying to get ahead in the fitness industry, or just trying to help those around them. The atmosphere at ISSA is one of education and humility. Never have I felt less than the staff and their input is always welcome and grounded in the sentiment that as students we are learning and they are, in effect, molding us. Thank you ISSA!

Writing about nutrition and fitness is what Dr. Berardi loves most. He's written countless articles for nearly every site or magazine that covers nutrition. He's written a comprehensive nutrition program called The Precision Nutrition System. A cookbook for the fit food lover called Gourmet Nutrition. And the definitive textbook on nutrition science for fitness professionals called The Essentials of Sport and Exercise Nutrition.
Over his career, Dr. Berardi has personally coached and consulted with thousands of people from all walks of life. From everyday people who could be your neighbors, right up to athletes at the highest level of sport. He currently leads the extraordinary coaching team at Precision Nutrition and co-developed Precision Nutrition Coaching, which broke ground as the first entirely web-based nutrition coaching system. PN Coaching is beloved by clients and consistently helps people get healthier, stronger and fitter than they ever thought possible.
Specializing in exercise physiology and nutrient biochemistry, Dr. Berardi received his Ph.D. at the University of Western Ontario under renowned sports nutrition researcher Dr. Peter Lemon. He's been an assistant adjunct professor at the University of Texas and a course instructor at Eastern Michigan University. Over the years he's taught university courses in Exercise Science, Nutrient Metabolism, Fitness and Wellness, and Exercise Nutrition.
In his doctoral studies, his research focused primarily on exercise nutrition; specifically, what to eat before, during and after exercise to optimize performance. At Precision Nutrition, he's sought to develop a new kind of research that falls somewhere between heavily controlled, small-scale laboratory studies typically done at universities, and the loosely-controlled, large-scale epidemiology studies typically funded by groups like the National Institutes of Health. Using PN's medium-scale method, his team rapidly tests hypotheses with thousands of real, motivated people, collect and interpret the data online, and turn that data into better coaching methods for their clients.
Dr. Berardi regularly travels the world and teaches the latest in nutrition science. He's spoken at hundreds of academic, exercise and nutrition-related conferences over the years.
In his personal life, Dr. Berardi continues to pursue athletics. He's competed at a fairly high level in track and field, rugby and football; he also won a US national junior bodybuilding title back in 1995. These days, the majority of his athletic time is spent at or preparing for masters-level track and field meets, where he competes as a sprinter.
