This is something I am proud of, not only in my personal accomplishments, but in being able to help others do the same.
I am from Wamego, Kansas and am 58 years young. I started a journey about 2 years ago that would lead me from certain health catastrophe to a healthier today. I was over 400 pounds, had racing heart and blood pressure issues, drank, smoked, was borderline to Type 2 Diabetes and ached and laid around all the time. I was told to change or die, plain and simple. The change started with walking 15 minutes a day on a treadmill and change of diet and no more drinking and smoking. In three months, I had lost 76 pounds and was no longer on the threshold of diabetes.
I joined a gym to start toning up from the weight loss and soon got a personal trainer to help me out. She made me believe in myself and my progress has been fantastic. A couple of months ago, I decided to try to give to others what my personal trainer had given me. She helped me learn fitness techniques and about how diet works with training and many other things. I studied and now am a certified fitness trainer. This is something I am proud of, not only in my personal accomplishments, but in being able to help others do the same.
Some of my accomplishments include running the 1500 meters in the Kansas Sunflower Games, my first race since 1971; starting out at over 400 pounds and getting on the scale November 1, 2015 and weighing 211 pounds; going from 4XL shirts and 52 waist pants to XL shirts and 36 waist pants. It is time to share with others. Thank you, ISSA, for giving me that opportunity.
